This film is an excellent promo tool for tourism in the Greek Isles. Who wouldn't want to spend a summer on a beautiful island with important archaeological artifacts to explore during the day and discos to party in at night? There are quite a number of beautiful people in the film and many of them are half dressed or naked while sunning or swimming. I am not a huge fan of Peter Gallagher, but his character Michael Pappas pulls off every guy's dream of getting his girlfriend to approve of him fooling around with another woman. Daryl Hannah is his American girlfriend Cathy who is looking to grow, become more open and sexually move away from her "nice girl" persona in Santorini. Valérie Quennessen is the lovely other woman Lina who eventually moves in with Michael and Cathy at their villa just across the way from hers. The sunsets and vistas are killer at both villas. The director, Randal Kleiser also directed "The Blue Lagoon" - which is another beautiful film that can also be appreciated without sound. This film is not deep, but it is great to look at and good, light entertainment.

This is an uplifting movie for those who wish to escape "winter doldrums" and the pressures of everyday life. Due to being more mature in nature, it is a great movie to "cuddle up with your loved one" and watch together. The scenery alone is worth the cost of the movie!

This is an interesting film in that it explores relationship dynamics--what happens when one half of a couple falls in love with a third person, but is still in love with the other half? These relationships do exist and work in the real world, but are rarely brought to the screen. Love, Jealousy, Fidelity, Surprise at the intensity of emotion--these things are here. I thought it was well done, and the scenery is stunning--a nice touch is how the island's history is shown off, and the natural beauty of the area. That said, I was disappointed in that we never actually see the three making love together, which I was hoping for. But the scenery and the emotional lead-up to the relationship between the three is well done. I am, however, glad I didn't pay more!

This is truly sad... I can't imagine buying this in full screen, therefore, i'm not!!!!! This movie needs to be released in it's original theatrical version.......with Widescreen and on DVD.......and i'm pushing it by wishing it would come out on BD, the colors are wonderful, along with the scenery and great bodies. Makes you wonder how it would look, doesn't it!

great movie...makes you want to go to the beach. Wonderful way to spend a chilly evening.

I bought this movie for my friends (2 movies). I have had this movie in my possession for over 15 years. This movie is beloved by many of my friends. I wanted to buy it on DVD, but it was too expensive. Shirley Valentine is a must see for anyone going through a change of life or divorce. It was a one woman play in London and the movie embellished it. Shirley is fantastic. I know the movie changed my life. Women of the world, you need this movie. Also my significant other, Ron, loved the movie! It is for men also. Connie A MUST SEE!!!!!

I had seen this movie when it was first released and loved it. I bought the VCR cassette the first day it was released and watched it a couples of times a year until I afraid that it would wear out. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found it on DVD. Now I can start watching it several times a year again. Thank you for always having what I need.

I recently ordered a VHS copy of this movie to watch on my very old, but still working TV that has a VHS player built in. The advantage of this is the price - The movie arrived quickly and was in perfect condition. Shirley Valentine is movie about a British woman in her 40s who slowly realizes that she is unfulfilled in her current life -- her relationship with her husband has slowly been reduced to conversations about dinner and a stifling predictability. Her children take advantage of her, and she is left literally talking to the wall. As fate would have it, she finds herself with a free ticket to Greece and makes the bold decision to go. Her adventures in Greece slowly allow her to take control of her life and see the person that she really is. What makes the movie more than a predictable mid-life crisis movie is Shirley Valentine. She is funny and likable even in her flaws. The cinematography in Greece is beautiful and like most BBC movies, we are spared the Hollywood Barbie doll characters and get to enjoy good acting with regular looking folks.

This is a poignant story, packed with humor and beautiful scenery of Greece. It has been one of my top favorite movies for many years.

You don't need any more expensive adapter, this one doe sthe job great and it is rated at higher amperage then most inexpensive, reliable, prompt delivery, love it
