Power Line 0900-27 Global Power Travel KitReviewsWe purchased this product prior to a trip to Europe and parts of North Africa. We thought that it would be very useful for our electronics. We actually had to buy this product a second time because the voltage converter blew out (and the plastic around it melted slightly) as a result of my wife's hair flattener, though I'm not sure she read the wattage on it before using the voltage converter. Here's what we've found: Pros - Cheap - Easy to use because the instructions seem somewhat dumby proof - using color coding and symbols. This isn't our first time traveling overseas, so we didn't need it. - The adapters work without issue. They're great. You don't really need to color coding since it's really just about plugging into the outlet whatever fits best. Cons - As I mentioned earlier, the voltage converter burned out on us. In general it gets quite hot - Design issue for wall outlets. The convertor adds to a adapter, which means it all gets heavy, so the whole thing curves downward or can easily fall out if the outlet is old or loose. We worked around this by finding a way to plug it into the floor or table in our hotel We bought this product a second time just to get the the convertor, so it wasn't bad. It was relatively cheaper to do that than buy something else. I bought 4 different kind of voltage converters for my India trip and this was one of them specifically to plug in electronic equipments at lower wattage 50 Watt setting. I plugged in my Graco baby monitor adapter into this converter. It worked for 8 hours and then damaged my Graco adapter. Later I figured out why it damaged it. The converter gets extremely HOT! Thus it heated up the Graco adapter and eventually damaged it. I should have used an extention cord between the converter and adapter. This product is terrible. There are better (and affordable) converters that do not heat up as much. For example, the 50 Watt converter made by Seven Star Model SS212 works great. I bought this from world gift center for only seven dollars. I use this for my wireless router 24/7 and it has not caused any problems so far. It does not heat up at all. I wish I had bought more of these. The SMF-200 step down converter is also good but it does heat up a little bit. The good thing is that it provides 200 Watts for electronic equipments. I use this for my Sonicare tooth brush and Graco monitor receiver. It worked fine for charging our phones and curling iron but could not get it to work for AA battery recharger for my camera. Not sure what I did wrong. I liked the very sturdy plastic box which kept everything in it's place. I just returned from a wonderful trip to Ireland, Germany and Austria. The Power Line 0900-27 Global Power Travel Kit was an important element of my enjoyment, and its 1.7 pound weight was not detrimental to my travels. I used it every day and recommend it for anyone traveling outside the United States. The main one doesn't project far enough to fit into european sockets. (two round prongs) many times the european outlet is setin, therefore the prongs need to be longer or a mechanism is needed to project the prongs. further, nothing accomodates the ground portion of an american plug. But that is probably not needed in Europe. Average Rating:![]() |

Petmate Airline Travel KitReviewsI have a very large dog, and while looking at kennels to ship her back to the states with me when I move from Germany, I decided that it wasn't going to be feasible for me to purchase a new and found a used one at a great price. It, however, did not come with the required food/water bowls. I'm not worried about whether the food/water bowls stay up or attached properly or whether the food and water stays in them during the plane ride, as it's only 8 hours and she won't eat or drink without my presence anyway. I just needed them to pass through customs and the laws here. The stickers that came with the set stuck very well to the kennel and I don't foresee any problems with them falling off during the drive to the airport or the flight itself. Great purchase for cheap! The pet dishes in this package are great and exactly as described. But I would hardly call the liner they include a liner, it is more like a thin strip of paper thin cardboard material. I doubt this will absorb much but it is better than nothing. Other types of pet absorbent pads offer much better protection. Even though this product is cheap, it's a little much for a piece of cardboard and two plastic mini bowls. The labels themselves are perfect for their purpose. However, for the price, I would have included an extra set. Also, if you're putting out the money it cost for the 'airline-approved' crate, the travel package should be included, at no extra cost, in the purchase. It works just fine, you DO have to push these on harder to get them to stay put.. i didn't have any problems with them staying on. If you're traveling this is a great idea! Average Rating:![]() |

The Knit Kit - All Your Knitting Notions In One Unit!ReviewsI bought this item for a knitting friend of mine for Christmas, and in turn received one myself! It's slightly larger than the palm of my hand (the pictures make it seem smaller) and has just about everything I need for most knitting projects. The scissors work great, as do the needle-tip caps. The only thing that is blatantly missing is a plastic yarn needle, which I added and conveniently fits into the back storage area. I take The Knit Kit with me on road trips and and it says it's TSA approved so I can bring it on my next flight, thought I haven't tried this yet. It's nice to have everything all together. The thread cutter is a little hard to open (I've broken a few nails on it, but I rarely use it, so it's not a big deal to me) and for some reason there's no easy way to reset the stich counter, you just need to click it back to zero by pushing the wheel with your fingernail. Oh, and the "lock" feature is pretty weak (doesn't lock anything that I can tell). For what I need though, this is perfect. Measuring tape, crochet hook for fishing out dropped stiches, scissors, stich counter, stich markers, and needle-tip caps, I'm in geeky knitting gadget heaven. This is great when you knit on the run. I'm still hard pressed to leave behind my standbys. The scissors BARELY cut yarn, which was a bit sad, but the other features are great and I would rather have those scissors than nothing. I got this in my Christmas stocking (yeah, it was on my wish list) and I've found it to be very helpful. I wouldn't use the crochet hook for much other than a small emergency and I added a plastic sewing needle of my own, but other than that, I have no criticsm of this handy little kit that has already been quickly tossed into a project bag on my way out the door. If you're a new knitter just gathering supplies, GET THIS. It has all the little odds and ends you will frequently use as you become more experienced. If you're an old hand, GET THIS. It's the perfect knitting traveling companion. It's small and compact and has everything you'll need when you're knitting on the go. Between the Knit Kit, my Knit Picks interchangeable needles, and some yarn, I don't need anything else! If you need a little more of an idea how awesome this is, the week before Thanksgiving I was on a road trip from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles. I decided to knit the Subway Mittens, an Interweave Knits pattern. The first mitten was knit before I got the Knit Kit (I found an awesome yarn store in LA). I fumbled around my bag for scraps of yarn for stitch markers, dug through my pocket for clippers to cut yarn, and kept losing a crochet hook. Well, I got the Knit Kit and the knitting of the second mitten on the way back to Salt Lake was a breeze. It was so nice to just have to feel for the smooth plastic case of the Knit Kit and pluck out what I needed. It's a great gadget and it will make the perfect gift for any knitter. The concept for this product is good. The execution is not so good. The materials are cheaply made plastic. The crochet hook is permanently bent, so it is almost impossible to use to pick up dropped stitches. It IS handy for keeping all of your "knitting notions" together, but I would rather put things together in a baggie so that I can have better quality products in one spot. Average Rating:![]() |

Alex Toys My First Mosaic, Alex Little Hands Art SeriesReviewsThis craft toy gave my granddaughter hours of fun with her mother and both enjoyed it immensely. My granddaughter could indulge her imagination and love of vibrant colors. She will be 3 years old in March. Sticky mosaics make a perfect age appropriate gift. I have bought the Orb factory products in the past, first experience with Alex products. Hope it will be equally good. Will soon buy more as you don't commonly see them in toy stores but any child whom I ever gifted this product, loves them. Each item is different though as rarely the stick ons fall off if glue is not enough, then you need to glue them back on, but only occassionally. I purchased two of the Mosaics for twin girls that used to babysit. They seemed to love playing with it. I am glad I decided on this product. I thought my granddaughter, age 4 would love this toy because she likes stickers, but it didn't interest her at all. She liked her brother foam mosaics but this toy/project had no appeal. I got these for a trip and really liked how they are individually packaged and thin. Perfect to throw in a bag and not take up a lot of space. My 4-yr old really enjoyed doing these. My 8-yr old nephew even had fun. Average Rating:![]() |

Melissa & Doug Wooden Take Along Tool Kit (24pc)Reviewsthought she would love this as she loves to help Daddy do anything with tools and she loves the cobblers bench she has already. But she has trouble working the screws and the tools. I think she is just not ready for it yet. Anticipate she will grow into it. BTW she loves the hammer she bangs on the tool box and the other tools so far they have stood up to this abuse well. My son (almost 2) LOVES this toy. He enjoys playing with it and has learned things from it (some things are okay to hammer and some things aren't). The main thing I don't care for about it is that the wood is REALLY too soft for the nature of the toy (it's made to bang with a hammer....). Within a day or so it was obviously broken in. It is probably more educational than we've been able to use it for so far. It has good potential for sorting colors, sizes, counting holes, etc. But for now it's just a whacking fun toy. Our one year old grandson loves this toolbox. Finally he has something real to do with tools instead of just pretend. The pegs are a tight fit but his dad showed him what to do and he has no trouble with them now. My grandson loves this tool kit. He builds all the time. He was really happy when he received it. It's the perfect gift for a little boy to work along side his Dad with.I looked web wide for this and Amazon had the best price all the way around. I have 3 different tool box kits and this is by far the best made one. The wood pieces are thick so they will stand up to a toddler's banging, stepping, and throwing and the paint/stain is also very durable. My child's hand-eye coordination and dexterity has developed because of this item. Several times a week my 2 year old has something that he has to "fix it". The little bit extra that it costs, is worth it for the quality. Average Rating:![]() |

Fisher-Price Doodle Pro Travel GreenReviewsMy daughter loves this toy. She is 2 & 1/2 years old and loves to scribble with crayons and pencils. This toy saves us from all the messiness of crayons, papers, etc. She also likes to carry it with her while traveling and uses it even while seated on a car seat for long distance travels! It is reasonably priced and is pretty durable. Great for traveling, small size works just as well, 2 y/o really enjoys it. You can take it to another level by using it to review letters, and numbers/quantities. This has been one of the kids' favorite toys. I am a graphic artist and grew up drawing so I am thrilled that they like drawing too. This is nice because it is simple to use and it is neat and clean unlike markers or crayons. It also works well as a teaching tool for drawing things for them to identify. Great product. This Doodle Pro is great. My daughter actually has 2 of them and we haven't had any issues with them. They are great for traveling, but a little on the small side if you plan to use at home. If I was purchasing another, I would get the full-size one with magnets. I bought this for my 2 year old daughter when we were planning a trip that included a 3 hour plane ride. It was great! She had a blast, drawing, erasing, having me draw, etc. And I love the fact that the "pen" is attached so I wasn't trying to chase it down the aisle as we hit turbulence! Average Rating:![]() |

Total Resources International 250-Piece Outdoor First Aid Kit in Red EVA CaseReviewsThe quality of items in this kit, and many others, are fairly cheap. Furthermore, the inside of this case (which is removable), is very difficult to manage, and is not well laid out for emergencies. Finally, about 1/3 of the items included are fairly extraneous...sunscreen, bug bite wipe, bug repellent. Definitely better off building your own kit from scratch. The only good thing about the whole thing is the exterior beefiness of the bag. Comes with a lot and handy case seems perfect for our RV and boat..would make an excellent gift for the outdoorsy type as well. Would buy again and would highly recommend. Deffinatly look at the size measurements for this item!!!! I was expecting a larger item but when it arrived I could only think.....why did they send me the mini version? Not bad though. This first aid kit is truly a remarkable one, it is small, neat, light weight and easy carrying. Equipped with emergency preparedness items that will suit you emergency needs. I love it and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good international 250-piece first aid kit. The price is very reasonable as well, check it out and make your order right now before it run out of stock. Amazon, the best!!! Total Resources International 250-Piece Outdoor First Aid Kit in Red EVA Case Not impressed. Most of the 250 pieces are useless in real life. I mean a packet of drinking water? It is a pretty small kit. I threw away a bunch of stuff to make room for things that need to be in it. I should have bought a bag and stuffed it my self at Walgreen's. Average Rating:![]() |

In 1844 the Oregon Trail was full of farm families moving west. That summer one party set out on its own--heading into unknown wilderness and blazing a trail to California. They survived hardships of waterless deserts and mountain snows to become the first party to successfully cross the Sierra Nevada with covered wagons--one of the truly remarkable achievements in the history of the West... |
